Dale Anthony Miller, 72, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed on peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from Pancreatic Cancer.
Dale was born April 23, 1940, in Virginia City, Montana to Bradley and Mary (Elsie) Fah Miller. He attended school for 12 years in Moore and graduated from Moore High School in 1958. After working for four local ranches in the Moore and Buffalo area, on May 13, 1959, he joined the United Sates Air Force. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas, On June 14, 195, he was transferred to Lowery Air Force Base in Aurora, CO., for Radar School. On July 1, 1960, he was assigned to Suffolk Co. Air Force Base, located at West Hampton Beach, NY. On November 24, 1960, was temporally assigned to Missile School at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL and then reassigned back to the Suffolk County Base on Long Island and was Honorably discharged on Feb 12, 1964. Dale was united in marriage to Prudence Marino of Shirley, NY on June 20, 1964. They have three children, James, Sheri and Michelle.
Dale went to work at Brookhaven National Lab at Upton, NY for 11 years. In 1975, he was hired at Fermi National Laboratory in Batavia, IL and work on the largest Proton Accelerator in the world. In 2008, Dale traveled to Italy and Germany to work on a Fermilab related project. Dale was an extremely hard worker who loved his family dearly.
Dale will be so deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him for his wisdom, thoughtfulness, hard work ethic, and sense of humor. We were so very blessed to have had such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Heaven is so fortunate to have received such a gentlemanly angel.
Dale is survived by his wife Prudy of 48 years; children, James of Oshkosh, WI, Sheri Vrtis (Mike) of Plainfield, IL, Michelle Johnson (Jay) of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Jacob, Joel and Jenna Miller of Oshkosh WI.; Ethan Cooper of Plainfield, IL.; Lucas and Kady Johnson of Shakopee, MN.; brothers, David of San Jose, CA; Richard of Dodson, MT; Paul of Laurel, MT; Mark of Ramona, CA and Ralph of Paola, KS; sister, Charlotte Jordon of Billings, MT and cousins, nieces, nephews and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradley and Mary Miller; and his nephew Paul Patrick Miller.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 with a memorial service beginning at 7:30 pm at Bolingbook-McCauley Funeral & Chapel.
Funeral Services for Dale will be held later this summer at St. Leo’s Catholic Church and Interment will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lewistown, Montana.
