Rest in Peace, dear Jules.
It was with sadness that I read of your passing online. Who would have known when we spoke on your birthday in January, it would be for the last time.
I’m so glad that my family and I were able to enjoy your 75h birthday with you, LeNore, your nieces, their families, and your many friends – it was a fun evening.
Wonderful memories are filling my mind right now. Your ordination party. Just after my twin brothers, Rich and Bob, received their First Holy Communion at Owosso St. Joseph, we jumped into the car and raced to Chicago. What a joyful day, everyone was proud. (And I think my dad worked the third shift that night which was usually the case, but we came anyway – he wouldn’t have missed it for the world).
My wedding. In 1966, you and Fr. Ken came to Owosso to preside at my wedding at St. Joseph Church. I was overwhelmed – you followed all the protocol, contacting Fr. Daniel, the pastor, for approval. Vicki and I were so happy that you were there to give us your blessing. Then all the family gathered for breakfast at the hall, the reunion was special. Of course, it was short because you needed to return to Chicago to hear confessions and celebrate Sunday Mass. God bless you!
We visited Chicago when we could after that, loved having dinner at your parents Marshfield Avenue home with you, Aunt Agnes, and Ken. Although distance prevented many trips from Michigan to Chicago in those days, the gatherings were memorable.
You and Ken were always so proud of your nieces and nephews – we loved hearing about them. They were blessed indeed to have the both of you! You cared for our children too – the girls always had your medal pinned to their bassinet and later on the wall of their bedroom.
Wish we could have been at your final stop at church; however, as soon as possible we will visit St. Peter Cemetery again and pay our final respects to you and visit with Aunt Theresa, Uncle Julius and Fr. Ken also. You are all together now!
Grant them eternal rest, O Lord. And let Your perpetual light shine upon them.
Your cousin, Ed Repik
