  6. Mike Rudy says:

My deepest condolences to the Schanks Family,
Going back 40+ years ago, in the day when everyone in the neighbohood knew everyone else, Mr. Schanks and family lived down the street from us on Fairwood Drive in Westbury and would always wave at us kids as he drove by when we neighborhood kids were out playing ball in the street. If he saw me walking down the street as he was driving by he would almost always stop and talk to me and ask me how I was doing. When I played football at Lockport West, the one thing I have not forgotten and will never forget, is that Mr Schanks came to the majority of our games and as I was walking off that field for the very last time my senior year on a very emotional senior day, at the end of the last foot game I would ever play for the Spartans, Mr Schanks was standing there at the end of the endzone and he reached out and shook my hand and patted me on the back said great game. My folks weren’t at that game but here was the Mayor of our town greeting me at the end of my last game. I was truly honored and it meant alot and still does. Mr. Schanks was a pioneer in Bolingbrook before it was even called Bolingbrook, I would say he was one of the founding fathers of the town that is called Bolingbrook today. Thank you Mr. Shanks for your service to the community and for having lived in our once upon a time small town and our neighborhood AND for the honor and priveledge to have known you. And yes for that last game greeting.
Our thoughts and Prayers are with you all.
Mike and Sally Rudy and family

Information about Preplanning

Today more than ever, people are choosing to pre-plan or prepay for their own funeral arrangements. Such planning helps to prevent the surviving family members from having to make arrangements on short notice, reduces emotional strain and helps to ensure that the wishes of the deceased will be respected.
