William L. Woodruff

Dr. William Lee Woodruff (Bill), Age 74, of Woodridge, formerly of Bolingbrook, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born to the late George and Edna Woodruff on October 21, 1938, growing up in Ulysses, NE. Survived by his beloved wife, Loyeen Woodruff; sister, Georgia Diers; his son, Todd Woodruff, (wife) Elizabeth and grandkids Madison, Joshua, and Jacob; daughter, Tracy Woodruff Glass, (husband) Scott and their kids Inman, and Brin; and younger daughter, Susan Hamilton (husband) Maurice and her children, Tia and Joseph Morris. Bill was an alum of Nebraska Wesleyan. He earned a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M before a long career at Argonne National Laboratories. Bill served for years on the Winston Village Board, traveled the world, cheered for his Cornhuskers, and enjoyed skiing, biking, and woodworking. A memorial service with a light luncheon to follow will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 22 at the Friendship Methodist Church, 305 E. Boughton Road in Bolingbrook. Bill was an avid reader who truly appreciated the library and access to books. We ask that in lieu of flowers you send a small donation in his name to the Woodridge Public Library (Honor Bound Program) or Bolingbrook’s Fountaindale Library.
