  4. John Spasojevich - AG9D says:

Bill followed me as FRRL Secretary and was there for my first term as FRRL President. Bill was a super guy and we took part in many activities and ham related experiments. Since he lived in Bolingbrook it was logical that he would also join BARS and I know he enjoyed the activities there too. We have lost an outstanding ham and a great friend. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

Fascinating, as always. I read these with a strnage unearned sense of nostalgia. I was too young for kindergarten when this took place. But I have a sense of the flavor of the time. I know the look of the clothing and the feel of the furniture and the smell of the ever-present cigarette smoke.Kennedy wouldn’t last the decade and Monroe died the following year. To visualize them alive, and in the same room, makes it all seem some kind of surreal dimension, all golden in the 1960 s California sunshine. From the 2011 vantage, the element of danger is muted, because we think we know how it turned out. We know. We could sidestep the bullets, take a pass on the pills and perhaps opt to do a little gardening instead. I think I identify with your friend Bill. Sounds like he wasn’t going to let himself be hemmed in by conventions, by the limited imaginations of others, even if he was going to take some hits for stepping into new territory. And he did stuff. That’s a win for me, when folks DO stuff. How can you prefer swimming pools over the ocean? Wear a mask when you take a lap around a pool and it’ll change your mind in a hurry. I’ll take seaweed and surf over snot and band-aids any old day!

  5. Mike Urso - K9FE says:

I will miss Bill and his spirit of helping. Always willing to help out, be a part, or start something new. Condolences to his family and his friends. May the Lord bless Bill’s Spirit.

Even though as I am a huge QT fan, I feel that Kill Bill in 3-D would be anevor-kill.QT films are bigger than life already, and it does not need 3-D effect toenhance its greatness.By the way, down with Oscar committee for not giving QT the awards he deserves !QT should have gotten the Oscar for theBest Screenplay, Best Director and theBest Picture.By the way, I saw the Hurt Locker before I write this, to be fair.

  6. Scott Hagner- KC9UTC says:

I only knew Bill for a short time, but during that time he always had a smile and a kind for you, he was willing to give of his time for others. He was one of the VE’s when I got my ticket. He always shared his stories and pictures on our SSTV- Easy Pal net on Friday nights and also a fellow net control operator for the K9BAR Thursday night nets. He will be missed by all!! His passing leaves a big whole to fill in all of our lives. My thoughts and prayers go to his Family and Friends. Rest in peace Bill and we will “See you in the morning!”

  7. Jerry Watts says:

I met Bill a few times as I took my tests to become a ham radio operator and then again as I took my general test. Could not have met the nicest guy. He will always be remembered in the amateur radio community from clubs all around as a guy you wanted to be friends with.

    KC9TSE 73′ Bill

  8. Bill Turner says:

C U N D History seldom rteeaps itself but patterns DO repeat. As I understand the leadup to the Civil War, the abolitionists were not winning. Lincoln was willing to tolerate slavery but limit it’s spread Lincoln was a moderate like our current Prez. So the new states admitted to the US were coming online as free’ not slave’ states and the South felt their power erroding. The circumstances are parallell. Moderate reform in DC partial measures being which partially curb the spread of abuses. The threat of further reform. Conservatives losing power, facing the prospect of becoming a permanent minority.Look at HCR, imperfect but a huge step, Wall Street reform, also imperfect, the prospect of regulation against Big Oil the prospect of immigration reform which in the mind of the rightie will make the GOP (the party of the old rich white guy) a permanent racial & political minority. There’s no rational scenario that will overturn Roe v Wade for the fetus people and nothing less will satsify them. IF the teabaggers get slapped down in 2010 IF they put up SP in 2012 and are humiliated expect insurrection in 2013 in the form of domestic terrorism. If you are ready for violence, just wait. You may see more than you want. This war won’t be fought by geographical bounds (North vs South) it will be an insurgency which I HOPE is infiltrated to the degree it can be taken down hard and fast. The problem with effective interdiction before violence is that it will portrayed as political repression, which will bring out even more domestic terrorist groups not infiltrated. As long as I going out on a limb with wild speculation the result of real domestic terrorism may be an eventual hard swing to the left after there are enough dead bodies. The radical political polarization isn’t going to fizzle out peacefully righties are going to reject the will of the people at the ballot box. In the end, and before we old guys die off, we MIGHT see something much closer to a democracy which represents the people.

Information about Preplanning

Today more than ever, people are choosing to pre-plan or prepay for their own funeral arrangements. Such planning helps to prevent the surviving family members from having to make arrangements on short notice, reduces emotional strain and helps to ensure that the wishes of the deceased will be respected.
